CBÂ Petrophysical Consultants
CB Petrophysical Consultants (CB Petro) specializes in the Petrophysical characterization of oil and gas reservoirs from all over the world. Our goal is to maximize the utility of your well data associated with each field to better understand the productive characteristics and potential of your reservoir. Building on our experience, we can quickly get you to a point where decisions can be made with greater understanding of the reservoir. This will greatly reduce risk in field development decisions for both short term and long term strategies.

Our team at CB Petro has vast experience on both carbonate and clastic reservoirs from all over the world. We have all been associated with individual well operations and analysis, but our strength is in field studies varying from just a few well fields to fields with 100's of wells and numerous objectives. For most of our large studies we have also incorporated the production for a dynamic component to the reservoir and confirmation of our analysis.

Please see our section on our Mexican experience for this quarter.

Experience has shown that to maximize the utility of the Petrophysical characterization and confirm the analysis. it is important to integrate these data with the actual production, well tests and formation pressures. We need to understand the productive characteristics of the rock and confirm fluid contacts in order to make critical decisions on:
Perforation Intervals
Estimations of hydrocarbon pore volumes
Secondary recovery and sweep efficiency
Drive mechanisms

Many of our services are related to our use of TIBCO Spotfire our own custom visualizations, applications and Machine Learning predictive models written in R and Python. Our characterizations can be delivered as Spotfire projects.

We are also heavily involved in exploiting leading edge developments occurring on GitHub where we have written many of our own Petrophysical Repositories. Please view at the following GitHub site:

Most Petrophysical Characterizations are still performed in the traditional Geoscience type software (Techlog, IP or Geolog). it is important to integrate all logging data for a robust characterization.

Experience
Having over 40 years of Petrophysical industry experience we are truly a
global company that have characterized world class reservoirs. We have worked most of the Giant oil fields from Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Mexico and South America and have been involved with numerous reservoir fields studies in the US and Iraq too.
Most of our work has been involved with full-field characterizations where our primary objective has been the estimation of OOIP. We typically use core-calibrated capillary pressure data to model saturations. In lieu of pressure gradient derived Free Water Level (FWL), we have developed our own techniques to estimate the FWL and then model the saturations using capillary pressure.
Though the years of performing these field studies we have found that there is tremendous value in incorporating the well-by-well production and formation pressure data in our characterizations. We typically use TIBCO Spotfire for this aspect of the study and the results have been very enlightening. It is one thing to perform a Petrophysical characterization, but to integrate these findings with the actual production data brings in the dynamic aspect to our final products that is missing with so many Petrophysical Characterizations.
